$5 DIY Table Canopy

A canopy on a table makes a simple, elegant focal point.
And, it's very frugal too!  :o)
($5 is assuming that you take your coupons to the craft store, because that is what I did.  Hobby Lobby, Micheal's and JoAnn's usually have them and often accept each others coupons as well.)

Materials:
12" embroidery hoop  (You can use any size or shape that you have on hand.  If you buy one it will be about $1.50 with a 40% off coupon, in Georgia.)
6 yards of Cheese Cloth ($3.50 with a 40% off coupon, in Georgia.)
Ribbon, string or yarn (I used jute from Home Depot.)

I decorated the top with finger crocheted jute, raffia, lace and green burlap that I cut to resemble pumpkin leaves for my daughter's Birthday/Halloween Party.

(Here is a tutorial on finger crocheting.)

Here's my round of links, tutorials, and recipes that went into the party:

    1. Thanks! Have also finger crocheted jute and added fern to it before as well. I should do a tutorial on finger crocheting. It is very simple and fast and looks great for shabby-chic/ country decor. I'll try to do that today or tomorrow. Thanks for spurring one the idea! :o)

  6. Ah! Love this idea! I think I may do a version of this in my son's room--he's into "castles" and I though a canopy over his bed would be fun. Thanks so much for sharing.
